Accreditation and recognition are often discussed as if they were a single label. In practice, students should identify exactly what is being recognized and by whom.
Institution and program are different layers
Institution-level recognition applies to the university or college. Some professions also use program-specific approval or specialized accreditation.
Do not assume that an institution-level status automatically proves that every individual program has a professional approval.
Use authoritative sources
Start with the institution's official accreditation or recognition page and then check the relevant regulator or accreditor when professional eligibility matters.
Third-party summaries can be useful for discovery, but the official source should control high-stakes decisions.
Online delivery does not answer the recognition question
A program being online describes delivery, not necessarily recognition. Verify both independently.
International students should also check how a credential will be treated in the country where they intend to work or continue studying.
